What we build, and what we keep running
Six activities: the products we own and operate, and the software we build and maintain for other people. They are the objects the company is incorporated to pursue.
Object 1 — Products
A product we own, we run end to end: the design, the code, the infrastructure it runs on, the support behind it and the commercial side of it. That covers software we write ourselves and software we acquire or license and then operate — in India and outside it.
Object 2 — Platforms
Portals, online platforms and marketplaces where people, businesses, merchants and professionals find one another and transact. The work is in the mechanics — discovery and search, quoting, scheduling, ordering, transaction management and fulfilment — and in the law that governs each sector they operate in.
Object 3 — Engineering
Software written for one client and their circumstances: a new application, or an existing one extended, customised and integrated with the systems already in place. Implementation, configuration and testing are part of the work rather than a phase that follows it.
Object 4 — Maintenance
Live software needs someone answerable for it. Technical assistance, diagnosis, error correction, updates and upgrades, enhancements and the ordinary maintenance that keeps an application working as the ground beneath it moves. We take on systems we did not write.
Object 5 — Research
Research, development and testing directed at our own products and the technology underneath them, together with the ownership of the result — copyright, trade marks, domain names, know-how — and the licensing, subscription and distribution arrangements through which it reaches a market.
Object 6 — Partnerships
Collaborations, joint ventures, licensing arrangements and distribution agreements with companies, institutions and technology providers, in India and elsewhere — entered where a partner reaches a market or holds a capability that we do not, and subject to the approvals each one needs.
These are the six objects the company is incorporated to pursue, as recorded in Clause A of its Memorandum of Association. They are stated here in the order the charter states them.
How we work
The company takes on work it can be answerable for. That is a practical constraint rather than a principle: software that is built and then abandoned costs its owner more than it saved them, and maintenance is one of the six objects rather than an afterthought precisely because somebody has to still be there in year three.
Work is done in India and for clients outside it. Arrangements that need a partner's licence, registration or approval are entered subject to those — the charter says so, and it is the ordinary way a company that operates across sectors has to work.
